Pre-Admission Examination
All applicants are required to take a pre-admission
examination. The Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing uses
the Test of Essential Academic Skills and the Self-Assessment
Inventory from ATI (Assessment Technologies Incorporated).
Following is a description of the information included on these
tests:
Test of Essential Academic Skills
Reading - covers
paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension and
inferences/conclusions
Mathematics - covers whole
numbers, metric conversion, fractions and decimals, algebraic
equations, percentages and ratio/proportion.
Science and Technical Reasoning -
covers science reasoning, science knowledge, biology,
chemistry, anatomy and physiology, basic
physical principles and general science.
English and Language Usage -
measures knowledge of punctuation, grammar, sentence
structure, contextual words and spelling.
Self-Assessment Inventory
Identifies unique learning styles, quantifies
critical thinking components and serves as a
communication tool to improve the understanding
of each applicant's professional
characteristics and work ethics.
The
School of Nursing will schedule the ATI TEAS test in advance,
and the applicant will be notified by mail. The test is administered via paper and
pencil and is monitored by a member of the School Faculty.
The time required to complete the test is approximately 4 1/2
hours. The fee for the exam is included in the application
fee. The ATI TEAS test can be taken only one time.

ATI to help you prepare for the TEAS test. This book is

*If an applicant cannot attend the scheduled
appointment, the School of Nursing must be notified,
(724-656-4052), within twenty-four (24) hours prior to the
scheduled appointment. If an applicant does not show to
take the test or does not give the appropriate notice, their
application for admission will be deactivated.
