PELL
GRANT
The PELL Grant
Program is sponsored by the Federal Government to assist
eligible students who have a financial need to pursue an
education beyond the high school level. The applicant must be a citizen of the United
States (or an eligible non-citizen), an undergraduate not
having completed a first bachelor’s degree, and
demonstrate a financial need.
Full-time eligible students may receive up to a
maximum of $4,731.00 for the academic year.
Students who
have obtained a bachelor’s degree are not eligible to
receive PELL Grant assistance. To determine eligibility
for a grant, a need analysis is performed by the Federal
Government using the information you provide on the FAFSA
application. Hence,
an Expected Family Contribution (EFC), is determined.
A calculation is then done by the Financial Aid
Officer through a payment schedule provided by the
Department of Education and based on the student cost of
attendance.
PELL Grant
application deadline is June 30 of the school year which
aid is requested.
PHEAA
GRANT
To be eligible
to receive a PHEAA Grant, the applicant must be enrolled
and be a full-time (12
credits or more per semester) student. Students
must make academic progress, be a resident
of Pennsylvania, a graduate of an approved high school or
have an equivalent (GED), be an undergraduate student and
demonstrate financial need.
Satisfactory progress must be maintained for continued PHEAA state grant
consideration.
The PHEAA Grant
Division will evaluate your application using the information
you provide on your FAFSA
to determine a financial
need. An award notice will then be sent to you and
to the School of Nursing. Awards
are dependent upon enrollment status, cost of education,
and financial need of the student.
The maximum PHEAA grant
for the 2007-2008 was $4,000 per year and based on
student need.
PHEAA Grant
application deadline is May 1 for renewals and August 1
for first-time applicants attending a nursing school. |
